Our Galleries

The Sheldon Art Galleries host an ambitious exhibition program, showing artists of local, national and international importance. The galleries span 7,000 square feet in seven independent exhibit spaces.

Our installations are curated to be conduits of curiosity that inspire love for visual art, whether you’re a young student or a lifelong aficionado. We don’t just regurgitate the conversations happening in the art world; we move them forward. And we’re not afraid to be the first to put the spotlight on an artist waiting in the wings.

We Each Hold Stories is generously supported in part by Barbara and Arthur McDonnell; Jerry Miller, Picture Framing STL; Kristen Peterson; Chris and Mike Scavotto; and Mary Ann and Andy Srenco.

The Sheldon is offering Educational Tours & Activities for 3rd-12th-grade students.
– 30 minutes for tour, followed by the 30-minute activity
– Maximum capacity is 35 students. Groups with 70 students can be divided into two consecutive tours, totaling 60 minutes.

The Sheldon Galleries will have on view the exhibition We Each Hold Stories from November 7, 2025 – May 2, 2026. We Each Hold Stories features 16 established and emerging Indigenous American artists co-curated by Tom Jones of the Ho-Chunk Nation and Paula Lincoln, The Sheldon Gallery Director. The work in the exhibition explores themes of personal experience, family, history, and current social issues. The artists reimagine their Native identity through storytelling, addressing land, community, and human behavior with a focus on healing and on the connection between past and present.
